XCIV is a Cape Town-based collective specialising in Photo, Video and Drone Content.
Home to Luke Bell and Hloni Coleman XCIV has created beautiful content around the globe helping clients and their brands share with the world the spaces and experiences they have to offer.
The continued development and success of our carriers has been intrinsically tied to the emergence of two things that have changed how we create and share.
The first is the emergence of social media. As we started creating we were able to immediately exhibit our work and engage with those it connected with. Instead of learning how to cater our crafts to magazines and galleries we immediately created for and with the broader audiences, we wished to reach. This has shaped how we make content to this day, as consumability is at the forefront of everything we create.
The second is the rapid technological advances in what we use to create. As we worked on bigger and bigger projects, we found our selves on sets filled with dozens of people who created in a fundamentally different way because of the tools they had come up using.
Before they could set up lights, we already had gotten the BTS shots we needed with an A7s. Where they needed Easy-Rigs and Steadicams we were able to hold in our hand's cameras that could internally stabilize.
This all turned us into a team that could create anywhere with a backpack's worth of gear and a company that could turn a brands story into one that the public would want to view and share.
What we make
XCIV specializes in "small scale" content, we pride ourselves on being able to create fast, light and consumable anywhere in the world.
Over the last few years, we have focused on bringing this ethos home, as we've helped some of South Africas biggest brands fill every pixel with the beauty and potential that is this place we call home.
We're very good at making photo and video content what clients want and we would love to impart all that we have learnt to the Alpha community.

How we do it
To say we're gear obsessed would be putting it lightly. At the start of every project we map out what it is possible to produce with what we have and what we might get to push that further.
We also love making content about the gear we use. From reviews and how-tos to talks big and small we have loved spreading what we have learned in person and over the web.
